Skagit Art Association Membership
The Skagit Art Association (SAA) is a non-profit organization, founded in 1956 to create, foster and sustain interest in the arts; to further the understanding and appreciation of art in all of its forms and to sponsor displays, exhibits and educational programs. Each year the association awards a scholarship to a local art student getting ready to attend college or completing college to get them started in their art career.
Members enjoy displaying their art or crafts at the Art in a Pickle Barn Gift Show, which is held each spring during the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. To participate in the Pickle Barn show, there is an additional application and associated fees. There may be other opportunities for shows in the future.
The SAA fiscal year begins June 1st and ends May 31st. Membership fees are $30 for artists accepted after June 1st each year. We invite and encourage all types of artists to join our group. Also, a joint membership for an artist and his/her spouse is $35 per year.
Meetings are held each month EXCEPT April, July, August and December. Meetings often feature speakers, art critiques or demonstrations of art. It is highly recommended that you attend all of the meetings. A minimum attendance of 3 meetings is required for participants in the Art in a Pickle Barn Show.
